Luigi "Coco" Chinetti, Jr. with Paul Newman

CMC Motorsports® is proudly family-owned and operated out of Little Silver, NJ by the uncle-nephew team, Allan Sockol and Scott Coleman. As second- and third-generation automotive enthusiasts, the duo has a passion and respect for motorsports that runs deep. In the late 60s and early 70s, Sockol worked closely with Bob Grossman, the Chinetti family, and Ferrari, serving as an consultant for the North American Racing Team (NART) as well as the Senior Vice President of Maserati and Lamborghini.

Luigi Chinetti, Sr. was an Italian-born racecar driver who founded NART in 1958. For many years he was the exclusive American importer of Ferrari automobiles to the United States. Chinetti was the man who persuaded Enzo Ferrari, at 50 years of age, that if he built truly distinctive sports cars, wealthy Americans would buy them.

Luigi "Coco" Chinetti, Jr. was internationally known in motorsports as well as the automotive industry. Enzo Ferrari appointed Chinetti as his Ferrari factory agent in the US, where he opened the first Ferrari dealership in the country.

The partnerships and personal relationships between these men and the burgeoning Ferrari racing brand marked a historic time in motorsports history, taking Sockol all over the world and laying deep roots for the development of motorsports racing in the United States.

In 1971, the North American Racing Team competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Drivers Bob Grossman and Luigi Chinetti, Jr. led the team to place 5th in a Ferrari 365GT B/4 Daytona. The car was factory built and delivered to the track by Ferrari.

In 1978, Sockol and Coleman bought the Mercedes-Benz dealership Contemporary Motor Cars, an establishment that has since become a central fixture in the community thanks to their focused attention on customer service, relationships, and retention. Also onsite—a museum of beautifully restored classic cars and trucks.
